Greater Navarre Area Chamber of Commerce President/CEO Tony Alexander and members of the Santa Rosa Legislative Coalition will meet with legislators in Tallahassee this week to discuss legisliative issues important to our area. Among the items to be discussed will be:
- Uriging the delegation to remain vigilant with respect to the Triumph Gulf Coast – Deepwater Horizon funds and their rightful place in the eight disproportionately impacted counties in Nortwest Florida.
- Support for Workers Compensation Insurance reforms and support policies that ensure rates and premiums are fair and not inflated by unnecessary costs and that are actuarially sound while ensuring that injured workers continue to receive access to quality care. Additionally, recommending more transparency regarding the process used to set rates as per statute 627.091.
- Support for the Santa Rosa County School District’s requests with regard to local discretion for construction of new schools as Santa Rosa County is very large and is partially separated by bodies of water that makes it difficult to move students around the district.
- Elimination of sales tax on commercial leases. This makes Florida less competitive with other states in attracting and retaining businesses of all sizes.
